Sweden's first-ever citizenship knowledge test
Since the new rules took effect on 6 June 2026, applicants aged 16 to 66 must pass a formal knowledge test about Swedish society, for the first time in Sweden's history. The test is developed and administered by the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR) on behalf of the Swedish Migration Agency.
